Tony was 17 years old when we met him.

He spoke no English.

At a young age he became the head of his family.

He had no option but to go and find ways to get some money to feed his younger brother and sisters.

Such was his desire to learn that when a place at school was offered to him he was willing to go into a classroom with 10 year old boys.

The younger boys did not judge him; they wanted to help him.

Tony has now reached Year 6. The change in his confidence and abilities is really encouraging.

‘I love school because education is the key of life.

Without education there is no way of survival.’
