A day in the life

Inside the children who are in lower primary are very tired. It is a long day and it is very hot. If there is a mat they lie on this otherwise they will just sleep on the bare floor.

The bell rings and it is time for afternoon lessons to start. The subject now is Kiswahili. This is our native language.

After 45 minutes we change subject to writing practice. The teacher spends time with each of us going through our recent exam.

Our final lesson for today is reading. We really enjoy looking at some new books we have been given.

Every day of the week this is the time when we have joint school clubs. We do something different each day of the week. The clubs include the debating society, music and drama, Christian Union, quiz club and games. Today … Continued

The heat and length of day has got a bit too much, and one of the children has a short nap!

We are all eager to pack up and go home.

End of day assembly and prayers.

Home time. I set off for the walk back to my home. I can walk some of the way with a friend. Some girls start walking in the opposite direction.

A few lucky children manage to get a ride on one of the dads motorbike which is called a bajaji.
